To Eat or Not To Eat - THAT is the Question!

As a dog parent, there are plenty of things to worry about and research - but food doesn't have to be one of them! Whether it's fruits, veggies, meat, or snacks, some foods aren't good for your pet, while others are A-okay. Here at The PetCot Company, we know how easy it is to slip your pet some of your food, so we want to make sure you know which ones are safe.

Safe to Eat

Foods that are filled with protein, vitamins, and minerals are all great options for your pet. These foods are not only healthy but also safe because they are soft and easy to eat without being a choking hazard.
  • Rice
  • Lettuce
  • Cantaloupe
  • Meat
  • Peanut Butter
  • Bananas
  • Pumpkin
  • Carrots
  • Fish
  • Pears
  • Spinach

Safe in Moderation

These foods are okay occasionally, but you need to keep it limited. The high acid content of pineapple and tomatoes makes them hard to eat, while watermelon seeds can be hard on their digestive system.

  • Pineapple
  • Hot Dogs
  • Broccoli
  • Tomatoes
  • Blueberries
  • Potatoes
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Apples
  • Mushrooms
  • Cheese
  • Bread

Be Careful

If you can avoid the items on this list, your pet won't be any worse off for it. Popcorn kernels can be hard on your pup's stomach, while cherries often have pits that aren't good for them either. Almonds are hard for them to eat and can risk being a choking hazard.

  • Popcorn
  • Cherries
  • Shrimp
  • Peppers
  • Almonds
  • Corn
  • Celery
  • Marshmallows

Not Safe

Finally, it goes without saying that these items don't pass the food test. Beer isn't just bad, it's dangerous. The fermentation and yeast can cause severe issues for your dog. Onions and garlic are not safe for their stomachs and in mild cases can cause vomiting and stomach issues.

  • Walnuts
  • Beer
  • Pomegranate
  • Onions
  • Avocado
  • Chocolate
  • Grapes
  • Nuts
  • Gum
  • Garlic

What Do You Do When Your Pet Eats Something They Shouldn't?

Have you ever dropped something on the floor only to realize that your dog snatched it up before you could stop them? You can't protect your pet from everything, but you can make sure you know what to do in those situations.

Signs That You're Pet Ate Something Foreign

  • Vomiting
  • Painful abdomen
  • Lack of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Changes in typical behavior
  • Changes in bowels - diarrhea, constipation

If you think that your pet has eaten something that's not good for them - either food or foreign object it's important to take them to their vet immediately. Depending on what they may have eaten your vet may suggest an X-ray, or maybe they just need something to help induce vomiting.

What Makes the PetCot Bed Unique?

There are many details of the PetCot bed that make it unique, starting from the materials it's made out of to the style of construction. We have clients from around the country who can attest that the PetCot bed is unlike any other. With many aspects that make this premium pet bed a great addition to your furry family, we're highlighting a few here on our blog.

ELEVATED DOG BED DESIGN

Our unique 4 ½" elevated dog bed evenly distributes dog's weight while keeping the dog away from excessive cold, heat, moisture and pests. Other cot-style beds on the market are higher elevation making it hard for older pets to get on and off.

COMFORTABLE AND HYGIENIC

The PetCot dog bed provides comfort and support for Pets while NOT providing a breeding ground for bacteria and odor found in pillow beds.

WELLNESS CARE FOR YOUR PET

The PetCot dog bed helps prevent joint-related difficulties and cuts down on elbow calluses. It is great for all dogs and cats and beneficial for arthritic and geriatric pets. The PetCot dog bed evenly supports your pet, unlike filled beds that can clump and become uneven.

PETCOT RAISED DOG BEDS ARE EASY TO CLEAN

No more washer or dryers to clean dog beds! Woven, vinyl-coated polyester fabric is breathable, will not puddle water and dries quickly and odor-free. It is the favorite choice for cleaning ease (with a cloth or hose with soap and water, or safe disinfectant). Durable and breathable, it provides dogs with a healthy, cool environment.

USE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS

Rugged construction is perfect for indoor and outdoor use. The fabric is UV light resistant and fast drying.

ATTRACTIVE

The PetCot is available in multiple colors (brown tweed, hunter green, navy blue and sky blue) as well as our exclusive paw print design and a 35 oz. vinyl option. Four sizes (small - extra large) to fit any size pet.

DURABLE

The PetCot dog bed is lightweight but tough enough that it is used in thousands of homes and kennel runs nationwide. Our exclusive cover is heat-sealed seamed, not sewn, with corner-to-corner fabric. The frame is made of strong rust resistant steel tubing (not PVC plastic, which can crack and break).

REPLACEMENT PARTS

Our beds are one of the most durable on the market. If, however, you have a digger or chewer, we offer affordable, easy to install replacement parts. Just replace the part - not the whole bed! We also offer a 35 oz. vinyl for those dogs that could eat a bus!

Resting Easy On A PetCot

As you can see, there are many different things that make a PetCot bed unique, and by combining them all into ONE bed, you've found your forever bed right here. Our raised pet bed is sturdy, easy to clean, and comfortable for dogs of all ages. Visit our website today to learn more about our company, and order a bed of your own!
