3 Reasons Your Pets Need a PetCot

When pet parents ask what items they need to purchase for their dog, a good dog bed is always at the top of the list - along with a collar, leash, food, and feeding dishes. Dog beds are extremely important. In fact, we consider beds essential for all dogs regardless of size, breed, or age. Pet beds provide more than a place to rest their heads, they provide security. While many people think that their dogs can curl up on the floor, in many cases that isn't the most ideal option for your furry friend. Here are a few reasons that a PetCot bed will benefit your pup's life.

1. SUPER EASY TO CLEAN
Just like humans, dogs can be rather messy. The dander, dog hair, sweat and drool can often cause their beds to be disgusting. A PetCot bed is easy to clean, so that you don't have to worry about what is living inside that plush bedding. The suspended bed also allows for plenty of air movement, so your pet is always getting plenty of air, and the bed can fully dry out when they are not using it. We have many accessories you can pair with your PetCot bed to make it even cleaner for your pet.

A dog bed can also help keep your home clean! By giving your pet a place to sleep and rest, not only will it keep them off of your couch and bed, but it can limit the amount of hair that gets on your furniture as well. It's much easier to take the cover off of a PetCot bed than it is to wash, vacuum, or roller your entire living room set. Purchase one of our easy to clean pet beds today and see how much faster it is to keep your area clean!

2. PROMOTES GOOD HEALTH
As your dog gets older you may find that they begin to suffer with health problems. Anything from joint issues to hip pains can all be even more painful without the proper tools. A PetCot bed gives them a place to lay down and take the pressure off of their aching joints. While our beds are perfectly designed so that even your older dog won't have trouble getting off of it, we also sell accessories to make it even more comfortable for them. We offer an orthopedic dog bed insert that is made specifically for your PetCot, and your older dog in mind. The extra foam will ease aches and pains, making recovery easier.

3. A PLACE OF THEIR OWN
Sometimes your pet just wants a place that they can call their own, especially if you have more than one. A pet provides them that place where they can nap peacefully, re energize from a long day, or even go when they're scared. Our premium raised dog beds come in many sizes, so your dog will have the space they need to spread out and get comfortable.

Another thing to note, is that giving your dog a place to sleep can help keep him from sleeping in the areas that you don't want him to. If your bed, and the couch are off limits, he needs a place that he can call his own without laying claim to your spots. To make sure that he'll use it though, you have to make sure and get the right size.

MADE WITH CONVENIENCE IN MIND
Our beds were made to fill a need in the pet bed industry. They are fully assembled when you receive them and ready to use immediately. Our pet beds are also stackable, so if you have several of them and need to store them for a short period, or travel with them, they will be more convenient. Basic Grooming Needs for Your Pet

Every day you perform basic grooming needs for yourself, from applying makeup, taking a shower, brushing your teeth, using deodorant, trimming your nails - the list is endless! You perform these tasks so that you look good when you go out in public, and even just looking good for yourself! Just like you need these things done, your pet needs a few basic grooming procedures performed. They may not need them every single day, but they do need to be done on a routine basis. Here are a few things you can remember to do for your pet to keep them looking their best!

BATHING

Sometimes your cat or dog may be leery of bathing, and if so, that's okay! There are a few steps you can take to help ease them into it - even if they're just baby steps. Start by preparing the bathing area with all of the supplies you'll need beforehand. You'll want to have the tub or basin filled with lukewarm water, a cup to pour water over them or a spray nozzle, and pet shampoo/conditioner. Every pet is different, so handle the bathing uniquely for them. Some pets like the tub already filled and ready to go when they jump in, others like to get into an empty tub and have you fill it. This will be about learning what they need individually, and taking it slow if they're leery. If it's warm outside you can always consider doing it outdoors with a hose or kiddy pool, especially if you have a larger dog. Bathing is an important step in pet grooming because it keeps their skin and hair clear of debris, and can help keep your house cleaner too!

BRUSHING

When you brush your pet, you're removing dirt and loose hair from their coat. This prevents mats and tangles, but can also help keep your house cleaner as well. Every dog will need a different brushing schedule based on the coat they have. If they have a long coat, you want to brush them at least every week, while if they have a longer coat you can get away with brushing it every few weeks. There are several different types of brushes you can choose from, and it's all based on your pet's comfort level with them. If your pet sees a groomer, you can try to choose a brush like theirs so that they are more comfortable with brushing no matter where they are.

TOOTH BRUSHING

Oral hygiene is just as important for your pet as it is for you. While it may take a few weeks to get your pet warmed up to the idea of brushing their teeth, it is possible and important. More than 85 percent of cats and dogs over four years old are affected by periodontal disease. You can also purchase special toys that are made to "floss" your pet's teeth, and treats that help with dental hygiene.

TRIMMING

If your dog's nails click on the floor as they walk, or if you press on the toe so that the nail extends fully and it curves beyond the bottom of the toe pad it is too long. Nail trimming can seem like an intense process, but sometimes you just need to take it slow. Many people take their dogs to a groomer to have this done, but if you are worried that it might be too much for your pet to take in, you can do it in the comfort of your own home.

CARING FOR YOUR PET IN ALL-WAYS

At the PetCot Company, we take your pet's health serious in all ways, from grooming to sleeping. Our pet beds help with your grooming needs because they don't allow for any bugs to create a home in them. PetCots are Perfect for Boarding Kennels

While we know our individual owners LOVE having a PetCot pet bed, we also know how much our kennel owner's appreciate them as well. Pet supplies in a kennel must be able to withstand constant use and many different dogs. From big to small, and energetic to lazy, every dog has a different set of needs, and a PetCot bed can help survive all of them. If you work for a kennel, here are a few reasons we think you'll love having our beds in stock!

They're Incredibly Durable

The PetCot dog bed is lightweight but tough enough that it is used in thousands of homes and kennel runs nationwide. Our exclusive cover is heat-sealed seamed, not sewn, with corner-to-corner fabric. The frame is made of strong rust resistant steel tubing (not PVC plastic, which can crack and break). One of the best (and most common) testimonials we receive is that our beds last for a LONG time. If under the rare circumstance that something happens, we offer replacement parts!

They are Very Comfortable and Hygienic

The PetCot dog bed provides comfort and support for pets while alleviating the breeding ground for bacteria and odor that pillow beds provide. Any kennel will be the first to realize that a large number of dogs from many different backgrounds can mean that there are many different germs and odors that come through. Having a hygienic pet bed can help alleviate these occurrences.

The Elevated Design

Our unique 4 ½" elevated dog bed evenly distributes dog's weight while keeping the dog away from excessive cold, heat, moisture and pests. Other cot-style beds on the market are higher elevation making it hard for older pets to get on and off. This can be a huge advantage for kennels, because of the varying ages of the dogs that will be there. If you have older dogs, the height is still easy enough for them to climb up to, and the weight dispersing is extremely comfortable to them.

They Assist with Wellness Care

We know more than anyone that you will have many different pets in your kennel on a day to day basis. From young and frisky to old and wise, you want a bed that can support all stages of life. The PetCot dog bed helps prevent joint-related difficulties and cuts down on elbow calluses. It is great for all dogs and cats and beneficial for arthritic and geriatric pets. The PetCot dog bed evenly supports your pet, unlike filled beds that can clump and become uneven.

Great for Indoors and Outdoors

The rugged construction is perfect for indoor and outdoor use, making our beds a perfect addition to your kennel. The fabric is UV light resistant and fast drying, so whether it gets left out on a rainy day or a sunny day, it will be able to stand up to the elements.

Best Pet Beds for Your Pet

We are proud to have constructed a pet bed that is perfect for kennels and individuals alike. Our beds were created with you and your pets in mind, which is part of what makes them ideal. If you're ready to start using the best pet beds for kennels, visit our website today!

Removing Pet Stains & Odors

For all of the things to love about our furry friends, like their kisses, the way the snuggle, and how they greet us at the door when we come home, there are a few things that aren't so lovable. Pet odors and stains are not a force to be reckoned with - especially when they start to affect the overall quality of your home. At the PetCot Company, we know how important it is for you to keep your home clean for both your family and your fur-family, so we have a few tips to help you!

Carpet Stains

Whether your sweet pup is still learning how to let you know when they need to go outside, or your older dog has the occasional accident - sometimes you just need to know how to get some stains out of the carpet. You can use a mixture of Borax to help remove the stain and the odor. Mix 1/2 C. Borax in 1 pint of hot water; if carpet, then use 1/4 c. Borax + 1/4 C. Salt (table) + 1/4 C. Vinegar. You can apply this mixture to the stain, and then blot it out or let sit for 30 minutes. Blot the rest out with water and then let it dry.

If you don't want to get the item wet, you can put the Borax on the stain and let it sit before vacuuming it up.

Hardwood Floor Stains

Hardwood floor stains can seem tricky to remove, but if you have the right tools it should come out - even after a little work. First, clean up the area if there is any pet urine left. Then put some paper towels down over the stain and spray hydrogen peroxide on the towels until they are wet. Let it sit for several hours. If you notice the towels drying, you can spray more peroxide on them. After the towels have covered the stain for a while, remove them and put baking soda or kitty litter on it. This will help remove the moisture and the odor.

Lawn Stains

Unfortunately, there aren't any great ways for removing the stains once they are on your lawn. The best plan is to wait and let the grass grow back on its own. There are some preventative things you can do, though. Try not to let your pet go to the bathroom in the same spot repeatedly. After they have urinated on a spot, you can neutralize it by spraying water on the area.

Can it Fit in the Washing Machine?

For all items that can be thrown in the washer, you can add a baking soda to your wash, along with your regular laundry soap and you should see it appears good as new. If you still see or smell the soiled area, you can use and enzymatic cleaner to help break down the pet waste odors and stains.

Did you know that the PetCot raised pet bed is actually designed so that you don't have to worry about pet odors and stains? Our bed is made from a vinyl fabric that is not only easy to wipe clean, it doesn't hang onto odors. If you're ready to get your premium raised pet bed, we would like to invite you to visit our website at www.PetCot.com. You can see the sizes and colors that we have available. 5 Tips to Take Perfect Pet Photos for Christmas

As the holiday season approaches, there are going to be many moments where you'll want to take pictures with your pet. Of course, if you've ever tried to take a staged photo of your pet you've probably realized that it can be a bit challenging. Here at The PetCot Company, there's nothing we love more than photos of your favorite furry friend, so we've got a few tips to help make them easier to capture.

Keep Distractions to a Minimum

To get the best photos of your furry friend, you'll want to keep distractions from being, well, distracting. Find a place to take photos where you pet won't have to work extremely hard on concentrating. Places like the park, around busy roads or events will take away from their focus, making it harder to achieve the photos you want and add stress to the activity.

Try Lifestyle Photos

While a nice posed photo is great every once in a while, try some lifestyle shots, too! Show off your furry friends personality, and the way they interact with you, your children or other pets. It will bring a smile to your face when you look back at the photos and see your pet romping through the leaves!

Watch the Lighting

You'll want to beware of using flash when taking your pets photos. Have you ever used it and noticed they get the green eyed "demon" look? This is caused by the flash, and can be eliminated when you just use the right lighting. Try taking them outside or posing them by a window to help get natural light and show off those pretty eyes!

Grab Their Attention - Appropriately

With many pets, if you call their name to get their attention, they end up bounding towards you - which isn't convenient when you have them posed for their photo. Try using a toy that squeaks or clapping your hands to get their attention without making it sound like you want them to "come."

Keep it Short and Sweet

Finally, keep it short and don't wear your furry friend out too much. It's hard enough for humans to sit still for a photo for long periods of time, much less your pet. Don't forget to be patient, as well. While your pet loves to please you, they don't always know exactly what you want. When they aren't cooperating they could just be feeding off of your anxiety to make everything work. Try getting in the photos, rolling around with your pet, and realize that they will be perfect no matter what.

Christmas Time!

While you're making plans for Christmas cards, don't forget to start planning your pet's Christmas wish list! We're sure if you asked them, a raised pet bed would be at the top of the list! It's a comfortable bed that is perfect for young and old alike, while also being easy to clean and store - which you will like! Visit our website to see the sizes and fabric patterns for your premium raised dog bed. This is one gift that keeps on giving!

3 Reasons Your DOG Wants a PetCot

Many people think that they are purchasing a PetCot bed because they like it, but in reality, your dog likes it more than you do! At PetCot, we have designed a bed that not only accomplishes the necessary features of a bed but also highlights the important aspects you might not have even thought of. We have created something that you and your dog will equally love because it's hygienic and comfortable. Here are a few reasons why your PET actually wants this bed just as much as you do.

It Gives Them a Place

Every pet wants to have that "place" that they can call their own. A place to relax when they've had a busy day, and place to retreat to if there is too much action happening in the home, or just the satisfaction of knowing in a home that belongs to the humans, they have a spot just for them. That is what the PetCot provides for them. If you've ever done any research on pet training, you will also know that having a "place" can be extremely beneficial in training methods. You can learn more about this from two of our blog articles, Can You Teach An Old Do New Tricks? and Important Steps for Training Your New Puppy.

It's Comfortable and Cool

When your raised pet bed first arrives, if you've never used a raised bed, you maybe have to encourage your dog to use it. It can be unfamiliar to them at the beginning, but after a few days of encouragement, you'll find that this bed is a comfortable place for them to relax. Our beds are suspended 4.5" off the ground, allowing for plenty of flex when you're pup lays down on it. This provides a very comfortable location for your dog, young or old. We also have additional pads you can add to your PetCot to make it even more comfortable. Our premium pet beds also remain cool because of the woven vinyl fabric. This doesn't retain heat as much as pillow beds, which can be a huge benefit for any dog who has reactions to heat. The height of the bed also allows for air flow underneath them which can keep the heat to a minimum as well.

It's Sturdy

Have you ever purchased a pillow bed, only to have it destroyed minutes after bringing it home? We're sure that your pet doesn't mean to wreak havoc on their bed, but there are just some materials that they can't resist. A PetCot bed provides a sturdy place for them to relax, and can be nearly indestructible to the most ferocious chewers. If you do find that your dog eats it's way through their new bed, we also provide replacement pieces so that you don't have to purchase a whole new bed. If you are concerned that the bed won't be able to stand up to your tiny chewer, you can read multiple reviews of our PetCot beds and see that one of the most popular responses is that they have lasted for years!

Choose the Pet Bed That Your Pet Wants

Our premium dog beds are designed with your dog in mind, so you don't have to worry about whether they'll like it or not, because common dog opinion is that they are great! If you're ready to make the change and find a pet bed that you and your dog will both love, it's time to order your PetCot. You can choose from multiple sizes and colors, so you can make the perfect choice for both you and your dog. Ready to take the next step in pup happiness? Visit our website today and we'll get a PetCot on it's way to your doorstep!

GREAT Testimonials for the PetCot Company

At the PetCot company, we take your satisfaction very seriously. Our products are designed to be the best pet beds on the market, and the are perfect for pets in all walks of life. From young, happy pups who are still active and want to use everything as a chew toy to older dogs who need a comfortable place to relax. Here are a few testimonials from our clients showing why our raised pet beds are so wonderful.

Testimonials for the PetCot Brand Pet Bed

"I got my PetCot yesterday. I have to tell you, I was a little nervous about how my 11-year-old dog would adapt to it. I placed it on the floor, he immediately jumped on it and then got off, looked underneath it and the dove back on. I don't think he has been off of it since. Thank you so much for providing such a great product in a timely manner!"  - Tatum Westphal, on behalf of Otto - the best boy EVER!

"We Can't wait to get our order of new PetCots here at the Texas Pet resort! Everyone is so excited! The dogs love them, and the staff loves how durable they are and super-easy and quick to clean and sanitize, and that is so important to us!"  - Vicky Wommack Fultz

"The following is an explanation of how we use the PetCot in training. We call the PetCot a climb bed. the 'climb' is a command we teach the dogs to stay on top of the PetCot and not jump off. We like to call it a kennel without walls. The owners can tell their dogs to 'climb' when they are watching TV, cooking, cleaning, or just hanging out with the family. This way the dog can still be out with the family even though they may be unable to have their full attention on the dog, but they can still be consistent with training. The dogs can do anything up there except jump off. It is also very useful when company comes to the door to keep the dog from rushing and jumping on your visitors. The 'climb' is the dog's job, so they aren't able to come up with some unfavorable jobs on their own. Small puppies can learn the climb easily and it aids in potty training. We like to use the PetCot brand because the beds are comfortable for the dogs, they always seem to favor the PetCot versus another type of 'climb.' The clients like them because they are easy to move from room to room or to take on a camping trip. They are obviously more decorative for people to put in their living room as well." - Jake Kemp, Instructor at Dog House Inc.

"I received the PetCot beds with 35-ounce vinyl a few days ago and gave them to my two most aggressive chewers. I have pleased to report that they are still intact. One is scuffed up a bit, but not much. I have tried nearly ever bed in the market that was advertised as chew proof and yours is the only bed that has come close. I just placed an order for four more and plan to order four a month until I have them in all 16 runs and also a couple for outside! My business partner, Marie Thomas, is ordering some too. Thank you so much for this wonderful product." - Kathy Harris, Hilltop Bull Dogs

10 Tips to Keep Your Home From Smelling Like A Dog Kennel

Your pup is a sweet member of the family. They're entertaining, hilarious, sweet, cuddly and more, but they can also drag odors around with them that seem larger than your pup, themselves. While odors can sometimes be unavoidable, there are a few things you can do to keep them at bay, and keep your furry friend smellings fresh every day.

Regular Bathing

If you want to nip the odors in the bud, you'll have to start with the root of the smell. Keeping your pup clean, and providing regular baths will make a HUGE impact in the overall smell of your home. You can choose specific products and cleaners that help with cleaning, just make sure that it won't hurt your furry friends sensitive skin. You can also consider a dry shampoo if you can't work a bath in all of the time. Brush it through their hair, and you may just find that the odor brushes out with it!

Consistent Brushing

While brushing your pooch's hair can help keep your home cleaner, it has more reasons than that. When pet hair and dander falls off on the carpet and fabrics in your home, the odors do as well. Different brushes are better for different coat types, so take a look at the label to learn what will be right for your pet. Be gentle, take your time, and make it a fun experience so your pet doesn't run from you when you have the brush next time.

Invest In Proper Cleaning Supplies

From Swiffer's to mops, brooms, and vacuums, look for products that catch hair and retain it. Cleaning up hair will be a fact of life when you have a pet, and consistent cleaning will help keep the odors that come with pet hair and dander to a minimum.

Get a Pet Bed That Stays Clean

It goes without saying that a standard pet bed can hold a collection of odors, pests and other things you pet may drag in from their adventures. A PetCot bed will allow you to easily clean the space that your pet relaxes and spends so much of their time. Our beds also sit off the ground, so they air out completely, and you won't have stale sweat and moisture building up inside.

Accidents Happen

Especially when you have a puppy, accidents are going to happen, but the right products can help you not only clean but eliminate. Using an enzymatic cleaner will help get all signs of the odor out of your carpet.

Find a Hair Removal Tool That Works For You

From lint rollers to hair removal mitts, your local pet shop should have many items in stock to help you remove hair. From your couch, bed, blankets, and clothes, your pets hair will likely end up everywhere, so stock up on the right tools to get those hairs off.

Clean the Air Filters

While you may not think to clean your air filters more frequently because of a pet, they can make a huge difference in the overall scent of your home. Not to mention that it could get clogged up with pet hair.

Don't Forget Dental Hygiene

While most of the odors in your home will not be coming from your dog's mouth, good dental hygiene can make a big difference in some of the odors. Especially if your dog drools on their blankets or bed.

Good Hygiene Starts with a Great Pet Bed

While our pets may emit extreme odors sometimes, that doesn't affect how much you love cuddling with that sweet ball of fur. One of the easiest ways to help eliminate odors is to get rid of the pet bed in your home that attracts bacteria, sweat, saliva, hair, and all of the odors you've been trying to rid your home of. Check out our website today to find a PetCot bed in the right size, and start smelling the impact it makes TODAY!
